Neurological & Spine Care

You can rely on our team of exceptionally qualified medical providers to assist you in enhancing your neurological function and managing painful spinal injuries.

Different types of procedures or injuries related to the nervous system and spine.

Rely on our proficient doctors to aid in the enhancement of distressing spinal injuries. The occurrence of disc herniations, also known as “slipped discs”, is widespread and can happen at any point along the spine. The extent of the slippage or herniation determines the symptoms, which may include numbness, tingling, burning sensations, or muscle weakness in the arms or legs. In cases where conservative medical treatments or other therapies like physical therapy fail to alleviate the discomfort, a range of surgical interventions are accessible.

Cervical and lumbar spine injuries are among the most common results of auto accidents and personal injury incidents. Our providers specialize in PI cases and serve patients throughout South Florida.

Cervical Discectomy

Cervical discectomy is a surgical technique used to alleviate nerve root or spinal cord pressure by decompressing the spinal cord and nerve roots in the cervical spine through discectomy. The procedure also involves intervertebral fusion to stabilize the affected vertebrae. Cervical discectomy is typically utilized as a last resort when non-surgical treatments have proved ineffective.

Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion

The anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a surgical approach for the treatment of nerve root or spinal cord compression by decompressing the cervical spine’s spinal cord and nerve roots through discectomy. The procedure is then followed by intervertebral fusion to stabilize the affected vertebrae. This surgical method is typically used after non-surgical interventions have been exhausted.

Spinal Fusion

Spinal fusion, also known as spondylodesis or spondylosyndesis, is a surgical approach in neurosurgery or orthopedics that fuses two or more vertebrae together. The procedure can be conducted at any level of the spine, including the cervical, thoracic, or lumbar regions, and restricts movement between the fused vertebrae. Several spinal fusion techniques are available, and each involves using bone grafting, either from the patient (autograft), donor (allograft), or synthetic bone substitutes, to assist in the healing process and fuse the bones together.

Customized Treatment Plans

At Nexus Medical, we use a conservative treatment approach that aligns with your treatment objectives of addressing complications through early intervention.

Activity modification can sometimes resolve disc herniations within a few weeks. However, certain herniations may not completely resolve, and interventional pain management treatments or physical therapy are the preferred treatment options. If the herniation persists over time or does not respond to conservative treatments, our providers are ready with an array of surgical options to relieve your pain.
